BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Northern Michigan is a bird lovers dream come true. The Great Lakes and large inland lakes make a perfect home for gulls, cormorants, loons, and other birds ordinarily associated with the oceans.

Michigan lies in the flyways of migratory songbirds, raptors, waterfowl, and shore birds. For instance, the endangered Kirtland's Warbler nests exclusively among the Jack Pines near Grayling, Michigan. Though it winters in the Bahamas, it is dependent upon Michigan for reproduction.
